Why #SENDTheTruth Matters

Schools and Local Authorities are the ones delivering SEND support every day – the voices that truly matter. The Schools White Paper includes big proposed changes, but those working on the frontline understand the real pressures: limited budgets, increasing need, complex cases and accountability demands.

#SENDTheTruth creates a safe, respectful space for education leaders, SENCOs, teachers and Local Authority professionals to share honest views about what these reforms could mean in practice, what feels realistic, what feels challenging and what support is actually needed.

We will bring together panel discussions and survey responses into a clear, GDPR-compliant report to share with journalists and policymakers. Real, practical insight from professionals is essential if reforms are going to work and this is an opportunity to ensure your experience is part of the conversation.

Survey Participant Information

What is the aim of this survey and its subsequent report?

SENsational Tutors has developed this survey and the two open discussion panels to provide a space for discussion around the Schools White Paper (also referred to as the SEND White Paper) and its proposed SEND reforms. We want to provide a space for individuals impacted by the potential reforms to share their views in a constructive environment.

This survey will provide data for the report, helping the readers (e.g., the media/government) to see the scale of the responses. Completing this survey can add your perspective to the discussion and ensure your voice is heard.

There are no right or wrong answers – all perspectives are welcome.

The aim of the report is to answer these research questions: How do individuals affected by the Schools White Paper feel about its impact? Additionally, what are their main concerns and what (if anything) do they want to see done differently?

Why have I been invited to participate in this survey?

You have been invited to participate as you have registered interest in this panel and its subsequent report.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. You can withdraw from the project at any time, with no questions asked.

How will my data be stored and processed?

Data will be stored securely in line with GDPR requirements. The platform used to host the survey and panels, Microsoft Teams, is also GDPR-compliant. You can read their policy here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/privacy/privacystatement

The data will be reviewed by the lead researcher (Milly Allinson, PR & Blog Content Lead, SENsational Tutors) and potentially a secondary researcher for the analysis and production of the report to be sent to the media and DfE. Any data will be anonymised in the report.

Raw survey data will not be transmitted to any external party. Raw survey data will be downloaded from Easy Webinar to be stored, anonymised and analysed in password-protected documents within our secure One Drive. The final anonymised report will be submitted to journalists and the DfE, and potentially shared on social media. As soon as it is anonymised, raw survey data will be immediately deleted, and anonymised survey data will be deleted five years after the completion of the project. The recording of the panel discussions may be uploaded to the SENsational Tutors’ YouTube channel, and select clips used on social media with panellists’ permission.

If you would like to request your data to be removed from the report or have any other questions, please contact milly@sensationaltutors.co.uk by Wednesday 15th April. After this point, the data will be anonymised and full removal may not be possible.
