I am a dedicated tutor, with over 20 years of progressive teaching experience. Having worked in two London SEN schools, I acquired proficiency in handling the complicated, yet important, mission of teaching children with Special Educational Needs and encouraged students to develop emotionally, socially, and academically, according to their individual needs and abilities. I have experience in planning and preparing individualised and differentiated lessons and materials for SEN students. I am also experienced and have worked with pupils with different learning difficulties (ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia), speech, language and communication difficulties in KS1, KS2 and KS3.

About Me
Skills & Experience
My Teaching Experience: I have developed and adapted the curriculum and deployed teaching techniques to stimulate and meet the student’s individual needs and support them in developing academic, personal and life skills. I have extensive classroom management experience, and have closely worked with and advised specialised learning support within the classroom environment, trained PGCE students in addition to outside school professionals – Educational psychologists, SALT, OT, and Local Authorities. I am professionally driven, passionate about educating young people with learning difficulties, flexible and compassionate towards children as well as their families. I am hardworking and a team player, with a holistic approach, promoting students’ progress and well-being.

My Teaching Philosophy
With extensive experience teaching in various contexts, I have consistently tutored children one-to-one alongside employing a whole-class approach. I am adept at collaborating with outside agencies to address a wide range of special needs, and I am committed to ensuring continuity in your child’s learning journey. Regular progress reviews are a cornerstone of my approach, enabling me to provide practical advice and support for strategies that can be implemented at home. My teaching experience spans across all primary key stages, and I am passionate about helping children reach their full potential by meeting them where they are. My approach begins with a thorough assessment of each child’s needs and strengths, followed by the development of individually tailored lessons to address any identified gaps. I strive to offer learners choices, ensuring that learning is multi-sensory and broken down into manageable steps. My goal is to ignite enthusiasm and a passion for the subject through depth, rigor, and contextual relevance. I believe that for learning to be effective, it must be relevant to the individual and should be a joyful experience. My aim is to always encourage my students to develop emotionally, socially, and academically, in line with their individual needs. I learnt the importance of holistic approach and use of mindfulness as part of everyday life in education. I believe each child can learn and achieve their full potential. Building self-esteem is the first step towards their success. I believe students learn best when his/her individual interests incorporate multisensory teaching and integrated therapy.

In addition, I always adapt my teaching methods for unforeseen and unexpected situations, whilst making sure that the student’s needs are met; which may include dealing with their sensory needs, behaviour difficulties and/or low self-esteem as well as their academic abilities. During my career as a professional tutor, I have worked with students (KS1, KS2, KS3) and supported them in preparation for their exams or where a home-schooling approach was preferred. I have taught History topics in the form of project learning where students could develop a variety of their own skills and incorporate objectives of not only History but Geography, Science and Mathematics.
