My specialist experience in a range of curriculum approaches.
An experienced Deputy Head, Headteacher and International School Principal I have taught and supported children with additional needs across three continents using the UK curriculum, Primary Years Programme and Project Based Learning.
Primary trained as specialist in maths and ICT I went from being class based to working for the Local Authority as a National Strategies maths consultant before moving into school leadership, nursery leadership then tuition.
My specialist experience working with children with SEN.
For five years I oversaw a unit for children with SEN as part of a junior school, taking a blended approach of inclusion where appropriate and withdrawal to meet specific needs. Children we supported had a wide variety of needs including social and emotional needs, speech, language and communication needs, attention deficit, hyperactivity, autism spectrum disorders, opposition defiance disorder, pathological demand avoidance, working memory difficulties, and many more. As such, I can adapt my teaching strategies to meet the needs of any child according to their unique profile.
I have experience leading and contributing to annual reviews, EHCPs, tracking progress, and liaising with a vast range of specialists to ensure appropriate progress was made academically and emotionally.
My experience of working with children with Anxiety, ASD and PDA
Since becoming a tutor I have specialised in supporting students with a wide range of needs, most frequently helping young people with anxiety, ASD and PDA profiles.
My specialist experience of teaching a variety of different age groups, stages and abilities
Internationally I supported parents as they sought diagnoses and support in foreign education systems and planned interventions to ensure their children made the best possible progress while away from home.
I gained experience of setting up and leading a 2 year old program and a Reggio Emilia style nursery in Houston a cross curricular Key Stage 3 in Dubai, and leading 3 - 18 schools in Malaysia and the US. Back in the UK I led a Forest School Nursery based in central London through the pandemic,
This breadth of experience has ensured that I have a deep and rich understanding of where learning begins and where it leads meaning I can support children of all ages and stages in their development.
My experience of current research and how it is applied to learning
I am passionate about the impact psychological research can have on learners with differences. Currently studying for a Masters in Psychology I have access to the most recent research in educational psychology and apply this to my work with students.
As a mum of three, two of whom have learning differences, I have personal experience of the unique challenges of balancing home and work so have great empathy and am approachable to parents and students alike.
Tuition allows me to work part-time while also studying for my Masters in Psychology with the University of Wolverhampton, due to be completed in October 2023.

With experience across the National Curriculum of England and Wales, the Primary Years Program (PYP), project based learning and the constructivist approach I can adapt and adopt learning approaches and styles to meet the needs and interests of all learners.
Using passion projects based on the interests of children my greatest talent is tailoring learning opportunities that cover curriculum objectives in fun, engaging and innovative ways ensuring progress is made even when great enjoyment is being had.
Starting with the 'Why' means that children know the purpose of their learning and have an end point in mind as we then plan and map a route to achieve our outcomes, whether this be a short stop animation, a novel, planning the redevelopment of the back garden or starting our own Etsy shop.... the child's imagination is our only limit.
Having A-levels in maths, chemistry and biology alongside an art degree and my Qualified Teacher Status means I am the perfect balance of creative and academic. With a lifelong love of learning I am still studying to this day, currently on module 8 of ten in my MSc Psychology.
Choose me if you are looking for a tutor who can design a whole curriculum based on your child’s needs. My expertise lies in designing projects that incorporate areas of passion and interest for students. Learning opportunities that inspire creativity while also meeting curriculum standards.
As a mature teacher, with many years of experience I am able to be flexible and adaptable in any situation, ensuring calm, supportive and nurturing environments for children based on mutual trust and shared outcomes.

I was once on the kids TV show “Help! Teach is Coming to Stay” and had to spend the weekend learning how to play ice hockey and everything there is to know about The Royal National Lifeboat Instituition, all while being filmed! I won a trip for my class to the National Space Centre at the show.
