I am a highly experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) specialist with over 15 years' experience of supporting children and young people across a wide range of educational settings. My focus is on helping learners overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual potential through tailored support.

My professional background includes roles as a Senior SENCo, qualified teacher, and SEN Case Officer, giving me a comprehensive understanding of SEND provision, educational inclusion, and the wider education system. I have extensive knowledge of EHCP processes and the strategies required to support learners with diverse needs.

I have worked extensively with children and young people with autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, dyslexia, and complex learning difficulties. My experience spans early years through to Key Stage 3, enabling me to adapt support effectively for a broad range of ages and developmental stages.

I take a relationship-led approach to learning, creating supportive environments where students feel understood and empowered. I integrate approaches such as THRIVE and emotion coaching alongside academic support, helping learners develop emotional resilience, confidence, and independence.

As a qualified SENCo with training in psychometric assessment, I develop highly personalised learning strategies that address individual strengths and needs. I work closely with families, educational settings, and other professionals to ensure coordinated support that promotes meaningful and lasting progress.

Positive relationships are at the heart of my practice. Children learn best when they feel understood, supported, and empowered, so I invest time in building trust and creating a safe environment where confidence, engagement, and independence can flourish.

Supporting emotional wellbeing is just as important as academic achievement. Alongside helping learners make progress in their studies, I focus on developing resilience, self-belief, and the skills needed to thrive both in and beyond education.

Targeted interventions are used to strengthen self-esteem, emotional awareness, confidence, and participation, particularly for children who may have experienced anxiety, low self-confidence, or challenges engaging with learning. Therapeutic approaches such as THRIVE and emotion coaching are embedded within my practice to promote emotional regulation, wellbeing, and positive learning behaviours, helping children become more receptive to learning opportunities.

Practical study skills, organisational strategies, and independent learning habits are also an important focus. Equipping learners with these skills helps ensure that progress continues beyond tutoring sessions and supports long-term success throughout their educational journey.

Where children have had difficult or negative experiences of education, I use tailored behaviour and engagement strategies to rebuild motivation and confidence. My aim is to help learners develop a more positive relationship with learning, enabling them to re-engage with education and recognise their own potential.

I believe the best learning happens when children feel safe, understood, and genuinely enjoy their sessions. I take the time to build positive relationships with every learner, creating a calm, supportive environment where they can grow in confidence and achieve success. Every session is carefully tailored to the individual, making learning engaging, meaningful, and fun through activities that match their interests, strengths, and needs. My goal is not only to improve academic outcomes but also to develop confidence, resilience, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning, helping each child to recognise their potential and thrive.
