About me
I am an experienced teacher with 35+ years of working with students and parents in Education. I have 7 years experience of working with students 1:1, who are unable to attend school through exceptional circumstances. Each student I work with brings their own unique challenges and strengths and it's been my privilege to support them in overcoming obstacles, building confidence and discovering their potential.

Teaching Philosophy
What does this look like? I draw on my personality, training and a wide range of resources: lessons begin ‘checking in' on the student's emotion base, then I usually follow this with a low demand experiment, creating a curiosity to learn – requesting the student to make predictions, observe closely and then make sense of the results. My lessons are led by the student's interest but can also offer alternatives to traditional methods – using outdoor learning, mindfulness, physical exercise, trigbagging, cooking, geocaching, ice-sculpting, to name a few - I use the AQA Unit Award Scheme to recognise these achievements. I use visual prompts, now/next boards, zones of regulation and a range resources to support concentration. My lessons end with ‘student voice', asking them to rate the lesson and to give feedback.

Choose me if…
...you need a calm, structured environment where the student has choices. I build a strong, trusting relationship with the student, getting to know their likes/dislikes. Through exploring personalised strategies I can support a student to feel focussed and emotionally regulated. I break tasks into small, manageable chunks and help with time management. By encouraging self -awareness and using positive reinforcement students manage stress and have control over their own learning journey.
Something Sensational About Me
I am a keen runner, often seen running with my Irish Setter! I love a challenge and have run several half marathons and marathons. It's now time to explore some abroad!
