About me

My career has spanned teaching, educational leadership, Local Authority consultancy, school inspection, community leadership, therapeutic counselling and specialist SEND support. My professional curiosity has led me to explore education from many different perspectives, deepening my understanding of how people learn, develop confidence and overcome barriers. I believe getting to know the individual is the foundation of effective teaching, enabling me to create personalised learning built on curiosity, trust and genuine belief in every learner's potential.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe effective teaching begins with getting to know the individual rather than simply delivering a lesson. Every learner is different, so I take time to understand their strengths, interests, aspirations and preferred ways of learning before planning sessions that are meaningful and engaging.

Relationships built on trust create the conditions in which confidence and learning can flourish. I adapt my teaching to suit the learner rather than expecting the learner to adapt to me, recognising that communication, engagement and progress look different for everyone.

I use positive affirmation thoughtfully and specifically, helping learners recognise their own strengths and celebrate genuine progress. Wherever possible, I incorporate learners' interests into lessons because learning becomes far more meaningful when it connects with something that already matters to them.

Ultimately, I hope every learner leaves a session feeling more confident than when they arrived, equipped with strategies that will support them long after our lessons have finished.

Choose me if…

  • Your child has lost confidence in learning and needs someone who will rebuild their self-belief as well as their academic skills.

  • You want a tutor who takes time to understand your child as an individual before planning lessons.

  • Your child has SEND, anxiety or barriers to learning and would benefit from a calm, patient and flexible approach.

  • You value highly personalised teaching that builds on your child's strengths, interests and preferred ways of learning.

  • You're looking for someone who works collaboratively with parents, carers and professionals to support consistent progress.

  • You want a tutor who combines extensive educational experience with genuine curiosity about how every learner learns best.

Something Sensational About Me

I've never been interested in finding one way to teach everyone. Instead, I've spent my career exploring learning from many different perspectives while remaining fascinated by one thing: understanding the individual sitting in front of me. That curiosity continues to shape every tutoring session, helping me build learning around each learner's strengths, interests and aspirations so they can grow in confidence as well as achievement.
