About me

I am a highly experienced primary teacher, specialist SEN tutor and former Inclusion Lead/SENDCo with more than 15 years’ experience supporting children with diverse learning, communication and emotional needs. I build trusting relationships with children and families, creating personalised sessions that help children feel safe, understood and motivated to learn. Outside education, I enjoy kayaking, painting, swimming, singing, and playing guitar and drums.

Skills & Experience

Teaching Philosophy

I believe children learn best when they feel safe, understood and interested in what they are doing. I take time to understand each child’s strengths, communication style, sensory needs and interests, then create achievable steps that build confidence without removing challenge.

I adapt my teaching through visual support, clear explanations, repetition, movement breaks, sensory activities, play-based learning and carefully paced tasks. If a child feels anxious or dysregulated, I focus first on helping them feel settled and ready to learn.

Sessions are structured but flexible, with clear goals, engaging activities and time to reflect on progress. I measure success through observation, work samples, pupil voice and communication with families and professionals. For me, a good tutor is patient, creative, reliable and able to help children become increasingly confident and independent learners.

Choose me if…

• You want an experienced, qualified teacher and former SENDCo who understands both your child’s learning and the wider SEND system.

• You want your child to be seen as an individual, with their strengths and interests used to support progress.

• Your child needs support that is calm, creative, flexible and genuinely engaging.

Something Sensational About Me

My guitars often make an appearance in sessions! Music, singing and rhythm can offer a joyful, low-pressure way for children to connect, communicate and express themselves. I also enjoy using painting, hands-on activities and games to make learning feel creative, purposeful and fun. Whether we are making music, creating artwork or turning an idea into a story, I look for imaginative ways to help each child feel engaged, confident and proud of what they can achieve.
