About me
I'm Martin, a GCSE and Functional Skills English tutor with 25 years' classroom experience, the last six spent working exclusively with autistic young people in a specialist secondary setting. I understand that for many SEND students, the barrier to English isn't ability - it's confidence, anxiety, or a classroom environment that's never quite worked for them, and I build every session around removing that barrier first. My aim is simple: a calm, patient space where your child can make genuine progress at a pace that suits them, without ever feeling rushed or judged.

Choose me if…
You want a tutor with genuine, hands-on experience in autism, SEMH, PDA, and SEND, not just an interest in the area
Your child has struggled to engage with English in a traditional classroom setting and needs a different approach
You're looking for patience and consistency over quick fixes or generic tutoring methods
Your child needs a calm, low-pressure environment to rebuild confidence before academic progress can happen
You value honesty over empty promises, and want realistic updates on progress rather than reassurance for its own sake
You're looking for someone who can adapt sessions week to week, based on how your child is actually doing, not a fixed script
You want a tutor with 25 years of classroom experience and six years working exclusively in specialist SEND education
Something Sensational About Me
Outside of tutoring, you'll find me behind the microphone as matchday announcer for my local football club, or narrating stories, I trained in voiceover work after retiring from teaching. Turns out 25 years of holding a classroom's attention translates rather well to holding a crowd's. I also come from a household that's fairly plugged into the things my students are into, one of my sons works in content for a Premier League football club, the other on the content development team for Roblox, so I'm rarely short of a reference point when a student would rather talk about anything except English.
