About me

I am a qualified Science teacher and Chemistry specialist with 15 years of experience supporting young people with a range of learning needs. I am passionate about teaching Science as a practical subject and love making learning engaging, fun and relevant to everyday life. I take a calm, patient and flexible approach, building trusting relationships and helping young people develop confidence, enjoy learning and reach their potential.

Skills & Experience

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is highlighted here in a reference from a previous employer-

Lucy was an inspirational science teacher to work alongside. Lucy was able to teach all students well but excelled with challenging students. Where other staff might have given up or said it was too difficult Lucy persevered with students with poor behavior and learning barriers.

She would build relationships and then build learning from there. Lucy applied and was successful and became a research fellow in the school and worked on researching intrinsic/extrinsic rewards and how best to deploy these in the classroom.

We were gutted when Lucy relocated and found employment elsewhere. Any educational organisation would be significantly stronger with her in it.
