About me

Those who know me would describe me as kind, approachable and patient. Through my Mental Health First Aid training, I have developed a passion for supporting those who may be feeling anxious or overwhelmed in new situations. I am very much a friendly face and I'm always here to help. I am an expert in my field and approach my teaching with a smile (and a bad joke or two!)

Skills & Experience

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that relationship building is paramount to successful teaching, particularly when supporting young people with emotionally based school avoidance difficulties and SEND. I always take an interest in my pupils’ interests and share in their experiences to build trust. I have a good sense of humour and a great deal of empathy which enables me to engage with students of all ages.

I tailor my teaching to the unique needs of the individual. I spend time liaising with the individual, parents and schools to understand what works best for that young person. I am always prepared to adapt and be flexible - I think this is a very important part of being an outstanding teacher.

I have previously set up a unique intervention programme for a range of secondary students. I have experience of delivering a range of interventions such as TEACCH, Word Aware, Talkabout (and other social skills programmes), phonics and more.

Choose me if…

You are looking for a tutor who puts the needs of your young person first. I have a strong SEND background and have worked as a SENCo for many years, advocating for young people with additional needs and fighting for them to have the support they need. I have a really strong understand of how to improve outcomes for SEND learners whilst ensuring education is fun, enjoyable and accessible.

Something Sensational About Me

The most SENsational thing about me is my little dachshund - Ginny! I talk about her a lot and she is my absolute favourite thing.

I love to travel, play netball and spend time with others. I really enjoy sharing in the interests of others, playing games and getting to know new people.
