Experience and Expertise

With over 16 years of experience as a Teacher and SENDCo, I have dedicated my career to supporting children with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. My experience spans both mainstream and specialist settings, enabling me to understand the unique challenges that can affect a child's learning, wellbeing, and confidence. I believe that every child can succeed when they are provided with the right support, understanding, and opportunities.

Specialist SEND Knowledge

I have extensive experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, PDA, SEMH needs, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing differences, and complex medical needs. Through my work as a SENDCo and inclusion leader, I have developed a deep understanding of how neurodiversity can impact learning and how tailored approaches can help children engage, achieve, and flourish.

Child-Centred Approach

Building strong, trusting relationships is at the heart of my practice. I take time to understand each child's strengths, interests, challenges, and learning style, ensuring that sessions are personalised to meet their individual needs. By creating a calm, nurturing environment where children feel safe and valued, I help them develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.

Tailored Teaching and Interventions

My tutoring approach combines high-quality teaching with evidence-informed SEND strategies. I regularly use visual supports, structured routines, scaffolded learning, reduced cognitive load, sensory-friendly adaptations, and confidence-building techniques to remove barriers to learning. Every session is carefully adapted to ensure children can learn at their own pace while experiencing success and enjoyment.

Working in Partnership

I believe the best outcomes are achieved when children, families, and professionals work together. Throughout my career, I have collaborated closely with parents, schools, educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and other multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic support. My goal is always to empower children to reach their full potential while providing families with reassurance, guidance, and a tutor who truly understands their child's needs.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every child can succeed when they feel safe, understood, and valued. Learning begins with strong relationships, so I take time to build trust and create a calm, supportive environment where children feel confident to take risks, make mistakes, and celebrate their achievements.

My approach is deeply child-centred, recognising that every learner is unique. I adapt my teaching to each child's strengths, interests, and individual needs, ensuring that learning is accessible, engaging, and meaningful. Rather than focusing solely on outcomes, I prioritise confidence, wellbeing, and a positive relationship with learning.

As an experienced Teacher and SENDCo, I understand that many children face barriers that can impact their ability to learn. By using personalised strategies, sensory-aware approaches, visual support, and carefully scaffolded teaching, I help children overcome challenges while developing independence and resilience.

I am passionate about inclusion and believe that neurodiversity should be celebrated. Every child deserves to feel accepted for who they are and supported in a way that respects their individual profile, whether they have Autism, ADHD, PDA, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, SEMH needs, or other additional needs.

Above all, my goal is to ensure that every child leaves a session feeling successful, capable, and proud of themselves. When children feel understood and experience success, their confidence grows, and with confidence comes the ability to thrive both in education and beyond.
