I am a highly qualified educator with 11 years of experience in primary education and nearly two years in secondary settings, specialising throughout my career in supporting pupils with diverse SEND and neurodivergent profiles from Reception to Key Stage 3. Having worked across state, independent, and faith-based schools, I have a deep understanding of how to adapt the national curriculum for different learning paces. My teaching philosophy is rooted in empathy, care, and patience, allowing me to establish a calm, safe and nurturing environment where SEND students feel valued, understood, and motivated to learn.

My extensive background as a teacher means I don't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach; I excel at designing highly differentiated, scaffolded and memorable learning experiences that target specific learning gaps. I am highly skilled in supporting students with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and various SEND needs. In my tutoring practice, I naturally integrate specialised, evidence-based strategies such as structured brain breaks, to minimise cognitive overload, reduce anxiety and improve focus.

In my recent leadership role as a secondary SEND Unit Lead, I successfully managed a specialised provision for pupils working significantly below age-related expectations (KS1/Lower KS2 levels within a KS3 environment). This experience has made me an expert at unpacking complex academic concepts into accessible, highly engaging and hands-on activities tailored to a student's precise profile and interests. Whether working toward specific targets in a child's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or accelerating functional Literacy and Maths skills, I use creative, practical tasks to ensure my students experience regular breakthroughs and a genuine sense of achievement.

I firmly believe that learning can only happen when a child feels emotionally regulated. Drawing on my background as an Education Mental Health Practitioner, I bring specialised skills in emotion coaching and daily wellbeing check-ins to my tutoring sessions. I am deeply resilient, solution-focused and adept at supporting students who experience anxiety or emotional dysregulation. When a student becomes overwhelmed, I utilise gentle de-escalation and calming techniques to help them safely process their emotions, rebuild their confidence and re-engage with their learning.

My practice is backed by elite professional credentials, including the NASENCo qualification (completed in 2025) and a Level 3 Safeguarding certification. I possess an expert, up-to-date working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, the Equality Act, and data-driven provision mapping, which allows me to accurately track a student's progress and evaluate the effectiveness of my interventions. I am a highly professional, approachable communicator who values close collaboration with parents, carers and external multidisciplinary teams (such as SALTs and OTs) to ensure my tutoring perfectly aligns with the holistic support wrapping around the child.

I love finding out what makes them tick so I can weave their unique interests directly into our sessions, making the learning feel fun, relevant, and interesting rather than a chore. Every single activity is carefully chosen and tailored to gently challenge them, while seamlessly hitting their school curriculum targets and the legal requirements of their EHCP.

Because I know how overwhelming new or difficult topics can be, I use a lot of clear, patient modelling—showing them exactly how to approach a task step-by-step so they never feel stranded. We will work together to break down and completely dismantle whatever specific learning barriers have been holding them back.
