Specialist Experience and Skills

I started teaching sometime in 2004. At the time, I was providing after school lessons to support local young learners between 5 and 11 years. Hence, for a few years, I taught one to one and small group lessons Mathematics, English and ICT classes, and adopted a range of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic techniques to teach evenings and weekend classes to a range of learners of different abilities. Around the same time, I started working as a Training Project Manager.

Around the same time, I started working as a Training Project Manager.

In 2010, I decided to do a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), during which I worked in two secondary schools. At both schools, I taught more than 16 students with special education needs. These included Dyslexia, Autism, and anxiety. During the PGCE programme, I learned and tested learning and behaviour management theories and techniques; developed an understanding of barriers to learning and strategies to overcome; and developed a deep understanding of working with curricula and schemes of work as well as how to translate them into effective lesson plans.

Between 2012 and 2015, I worked for a charity to provide extra learning support to 5 to 13 year old children. Thereafter, I went to Peru, where I worked for a private university - coaching lecturers and developing courses. I also worked for two charities to teach, motivate and support 600 plus children from poor backgrounds. Apart from these, I was contracted home-school three SEN students, two students with autism and one with severe behavioural issues.

Fast forward four years. I teach one to one and group Mathematics, English, and ICT classes in class settings and online. In my spare time, I run a life coaching consultancy which provides services ranging from career coaching to confidence building and overcoming addictions.

My Teaching Philosophy

With the right intervention and commitment, I believe that anyone can learn and be successful.

Something Sensational About Me

Mrs Olubimpe

For years, my husband and I did not understand why one of our children was struggling at school. We had hired two private teachers but no one suspected that she had a serious learning disability. The second class with Robert and he noticed it immediately. He raised his concerns and asked us to consider taking our child for a screening test. This was how we were able to identify that our child had dyslexia combined with dyscalculia. With Robert’s teaching, our has become a very confident student and now performs very well at school. A lot of teachers teach for money, but Robert teaches because he is passionate about teaching. I am very pleased with his work and I can vouch for him anytime.

Robert is an excellent, 1st class tutor all round! I cannot recommend him highly enough! One of the first things you notice about Robert's approach to teaching is that he puts the student first and goes the extra mile to bring out the best in his students. You can rest assured that Robert will bring to light all the potential in his students and in so doing increase his students confidence levels.

Robert is a teacher who is very passionate about his work and student development. A friend referred his service to me when I needed someone to help my daughter prepare for her GCSE exams. I am glad I reached out to him. He is very patient and he does not mind repeating something and teaching in different ways to help people gain good understanding. My daughter achieved excellent results in her exams. He is a really good tutor.

Robert is a really special teacher who has an amazing way of connecting to students. I hired him as a private Maths and English teacher a few years ago. At the time, my son, who has ADHD and Dyslexia was really struggling in school. I tried a few other teachers but my son was not making improvements. Robert connected so well with my son and used the things my son really enjoyed to teach him. It was like a miracle. Within a few months, my son picked up in his academics and even teachers at his school were amazed. My son is now successfully doing an apprenticeship programme with a car manufacturer and he is doing amazing. Even though he was my son's teacher, he is now a close friend of the family.
