Experience, training and skills

I am a very passionate and positive teacher with over a decade of experience within in a number of diverse educational settings. I have worked up to Senior Management Level in one of the largest SEN schools in Europe.

I plan highly-personalised lessons for each student’s individual needs; using a variety of methodologies to promote focus and engagement. I also work with the student’s interests in order to promote a positive working rapport. For younger students in KS1, I enjoy bringing the lesson to life using a wide-range of kinaesthetic activities.

I also have experience in preparing students for the 11+ exams for entry to a number of Grammar Schools both in London and the Home Counties. A personalised approach ensures individualised targeted sessions across the areas of Maths, English and Verbal/Non-Verbal Reasoning. As this can be a very stressful time for students, I ensure that the pastoral and wellbeing fundamentals of exam preparation are addressed; embedding stress and time management.

Further experience:

– Expertise in working with students with a range of diverse SEN; namely Autism, Dyslexia, Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties, Global Developmental Delay, Speech, Language and Communication Challenges as well as those a range of medical and genetic conditions which impact on learning.

– I have worked alongside a range of professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists and Social Workers to ensure the holistic needs of each student are met.

Experience:

Within Education, I have held a number of diverse educational roles:

-Member of the Senior Leadership Team within a SEN school with a responsibility for over 200 staff and students

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe learning should be fun, interactive and varied. I use digital technologies in my lessons to engage and inspire my students. I believe that a little humour also goes a long way!

I am also passionate about the wider curriculum and the pastoral elements of education. There are so many factors which impact on learning so I do ensure that I truly understand the needs of each and every student.

Choose me if…

….you want a tutor who will work with you and your child to ensure the best outcomes possible whilst having some fun and laughter along the way!

Something sensational about me

I have travelled to nearly 50 countries. I just love immersing myself in new cultures and I have learned so much over the years.

My passions include fitness and wellbeing, travelling, arts and culture and food. I also love being outdoors and getting mucky (I grew up on a rural farm!). I am also a little bit obsessed with dogs and I am very excited to announce the arrival of my new cavachon puppy Dougal!
