Experience, training and skills

In my 15 year career of working with children with differing needs you learn every child is unique and every child’s path is unique and therefore every child’s development plan must be personalised and reflect the individual child’s needs and the individual child’s path. Using qualified knowledge, experience and skills I have a strong understanding of nursery and primary level teaching and the requirements a child needs to be able to develop in the school environment, behaviour analysis, English as an additional language strategies, speech and language therapies, occupational therapies, social and emotional mental health supports and yoga and mindfulness.

In addition to knowledge of the sen systems involved in securing the very best for your child in school and therefore I have an understanding of the challenges parents encounter when trying to do the very best for their child and ensuring that their child is afforded their right to inclusion.

Using a wide range of knowledge, experience and skills I am able to design child – centred development plans that develop the whole child and help to provide the child with the very best opportunities for the child to reach their optimal level of achievement and achieve their goals. Having a wide range of educational experience ranging from multilingual and culturally diverse nursery, infant and junior schools, and the transition between such educational settings, to special schools and ASD schools. Whilst also developing children 1:1 outside of schools and working with families to provide them with the understanding, support and methods to help their child’s specific needs.

Having achieved recognition from the British Institute of Learning Disabilities for my work in developing supportive environments to help children with special needs receive equality, dignity and the opportunity to thrive in a positive, supportive and inclusive environment I continue to aim to work collaboratively with families and other professionals to provide the very best start in life for the child and their family.

My Teaching Philosophy

At the heart of my teaching philosophy is the relationship between myself, the child and the family, and any other professionals developing the child. For the child to reach their potential a collaborative approach is essential. From here we can provide an informative and supporting collaboration in which to support the child to develop and learn. Ensuring that learning is developmentally appropriate, learning goals are professionally-informed and learning is fun so that a love of learning will become a safe adventure for the child. By building a rich source of resilience from within by offering reassurance and building confidence and self-belief we can allow the child the freedom to learn without fear and reach their goals and beyond.

Choose me if…

If you feel I am the right person to help support your child with their specific challenges then I would be privileged to help your child and your family.

Something sensational about me

I volunteer at a local homeless centre helping those less fortunate to find work and shelter. This work has taught me much about different cultures and beliefs as well as a respect for everyone’s individual life story without judgement. In developing my own continuing professional development I am currently studying Counselling at a local college.
