Experience, training and skills

I have extensive expertise as a primary teacher, teaching across the range, mainly Y2-Y6 and 12 years as a SENCO in a primary school. I devised and managed SEND provision, managing and training learning assistants and teachers. I devised and delivered provision for the teaching and learning of pupils with special educational needs including autism (ASD), dyslexia, dyscalculia, social & communication difficulties, specific language impairment, ADHD and ADD.

I worked closely for many years with the outreach team of a leading school for autism to set up provision and teaching for pupils with autism in a mainstream provision, achieving positive outcomes for all pupils. Also, I have worked closely with the head of the Speech & Language service to deliver speech and language services within mainstream school

As a Specialist Advisory Teacher for Dyslexia & Dyscalculia (SpLD) I carry out diagnostic assessments for dyslexia and exam access arrangements, as well as delivering personalised programmes of teaching for individual pupils with SpLD , in primary and secondary schools.

Every pupil is unique, all teaching and learning is based on a multi-sensory cumulative approach in a relaxed atmosphere, which is tailored to the individual’s needs, interests and abilities; to develop and promote self-esteem and the drive to achieve and master skills, to facilitate the achievement of the best possible outcomes for the learner.
