Experience, training and skills

I am an experienced and dedicated practitioner and SENCO. My specialisms are Year 2 SATS, Year 6 SATS and Special Needs. I am committed to teaching, with a huge passion for making learning an exciting journey for all children. I have a strong belief that children get one shot at school and deserve nothing but outstanding. I have an excellent knowledge of the new National Curriculum and current teaching methods, as well as the SEN Code of Practice and inclusive practice. I pride myself on having the ability to create a positive, safe and secure learning environment for all children. I build strong relationships with pupils and families and have shown commitment in supporting them.

I have over 15 years experience teaching from Reception to Year 6. In addition to this, I am a qualified SENCO and have worked in this capacity for several years, supporting a huge variety of needs including Dyslexia, processing delay, ADHD and Autism, to name a few. I have an ability to individualise teaching to the child and break down any barriers to their learning opportunities.

Over the past 4 years I have provided booster classes in Maths, Writing, Grammar and Reading Comprehension, in preparation for Year 2 and Year 6 SATS, as well as entrance exams.

As part of my inclusion role, I have a vast amount of experience in identifying and ‘closing the gap’ in children’s learning. I have worked directly with children (1:1 or in small groups) who need to accelerate their progress in order to reach their full potential and have a proven track record of achieving this.

Something sensational about me

I was a child who struggled at school, who had many gaps in my learning. This resulted in low self-esteem and I couldn’t imagine I’d achieve anything.

I was lucky enough to find someone who ensured I had the provision I needed to thrive and progress. I overcame my barriers to learning. I have become successful in my career and education. This has made me passionate about supporting children to reach their full potential and my belief that every child deserves uncapped opportunities to learn and achieve.
