Experience, training and skills

I am in my seventh year of teaching, currently an Assistant Principal in an all through academy in Enfield. I lead Key Stage 2 in this growing school. I plan the writing, reading, grammar, maths, science, and character lessons and oversee the planning of science, reading, writing, grammar and maths.

In previous roles, I have delivered a programme of targeted interventions and oversaw the planning and delivery of all lessons. I led on whole school curriculum and developed quality outcomes in lessons other than English and maths, which was a whole school priority following the 2014. I also designed, developed and delivered the year 5 and 6 shared reading curriculum as an alternative to the traditional guided reading lesson. The children’s improved comprehension and clarity of understanding of the different types of reading questions and how to effectively answer them translated into clear progress in reading attainment across upper KS2. I have taken this model of shared reading to my current school and it has been very well received. I trained through Teach First, a two-year graduate scheme committed to addressing educational disadvantage.

I worked as a Secondary ICT teacher at a large all-through Academy in Enfield for two years. I have a passion for ICT and have continued to use the technological creativity and skills I acquired through this experience throughout my primary school teaching career.

I vehemently believe that children today need to be technologically literate to compete confidently in tomorrow’s job market. I completed a module on educational technologies for my PGCL and keep up to date with developments in this field.

My Teaching Philosophy

My teaching style in child-centred and personalised. I believe that the curriculum can be accessed by all learners if the teaching is thoughtful and skilful. Learning should be fun, interesting and engaging and I have developed several schemes of work that centre on this principle.

Choose me if…

You need a strong, experienced teacher who can make the primary curriculum accessible and fun for a range of learning needs.

Something sensational about me

I led a team of volunteers in Tanzania where we renovated a school library- we also shipped hundreds of books from the UK and delivered them to various schools in the Mtwara area.
